Pinch POts
Pinch pots are made by first forming a ball of clay then inserting the thumb into the center of the ball. Once the hole has been made you slowly and careful pinch and form the pot by using the thumb on the inside and the other four fingers on the outside, pinch by using the "hush the chicken" method. While making a pinch pot be sure to check that the walls are not too thick and even throughout, this is done to prevent explosions when fired. With all hand sculpted be cautious of clay memory.
Successful pinch pots have a well sculpted shape and have even walls of the right thickness.
